Holding A Golf Club To Maximize Your Swing

Holding A Golf Club To Maximize Your Swing

Keep your eye on the ball! Though simple, this little piece of advice works for every sport, but it is most appropriate when you are talking about golf and baseball. After hibernating all winter, it's time to get out the ole' clubs and head onto the course. The first time out after being off for months usually finds you trying to engage your muscle memory. Thankfully, muscle memory is more of a reflex than conscious thought.

So if you had a good swing last season, chances are that with a little loosening up, you'll have a decent swing this year. If however, you start with the wrong form, then you'll have to erase the wrong form from your muscle memory and replace it with the correct form. So, a word to the wise, save yourself a lot of misery, and have a Pro teach you the right way to handle a club from the start.

Then as you practice, you can reinforce the proper form training your muscle memory and giving you a more consistent performance. A square stance gives you the best chance of hitting your ball straight. One of the easiest ways to line yourself up for a shot is to picture railroad tracks going right to where you want to hit the ball. Then picture yourself standing on one rail of the tracks and the ball on the other rail, and you're lined up and ready to swing.

Always check yourself before taking a swing, because in golf more than in any other sport, the tiniest adjustment can make all of the difference in the world. And the club you're swinging makes a big difference too; so invest in the best clubs that you can afford, and make sure that they fit you properly. They should come up to about your waist.

Whether to use a glove or not is purely a personal choice, but if you are a beginner a glove may help you get a better grip on the club. So step out and enjoy the sunshine. It's time to go clubbing!
